Prelude: Happiness/I'm So Glad is the fourth song on Shades of Deep Purple.

About[]

"I'm So Glad" was composed and originally released by Skip James, however the most famous version of the song would be released by Cream in 1966. "Prelude: Happiness" is an entirely original composition credited to all five then-current members of Deep Purple.

Live[]

Most of the full concerts performed in 1968 that we currently have setlists for include the "Prelude: Happiness/I'm So Glad" duology, with it being possible the song continued to be performed in 1969, as a version of "I'm So Glad" excluding "Happiness" was performed on Chris Grant’s Tasty Pop Sundae in June of that year. None of the singers to perform with the group after Rod Evans have ever performed either song, which seems to have been permanently retired from live performances following Evans and Simper's departure.
